Baseball talk, parenting tips with Michael Young on Rangers Today Baseball Podcast

FORT WORTH — Timing is everything, or so they say.

Episode 62 of the Rangers Today Baseball Podcast was shot Thursday, the day before the Rangers signed Jacob deGrom and and USC lost to Utah in the Pac-12 championship.

Both are relevant because, well, we had some miscalls.

As John Moore and I were discussing Rangers free agency, I said I didn’t think the Rangers would sign deGrom, scared away by the injury history and the price. Welp.

Guest Michael Young proudly wore his USC Football shirt, with eyes on his Trojans going to the College Football Playoffs, and I made sure a TCU helmet was on the table. Welp.

We’re man enough to admit our mistakes, and to talk about parenting a son after a baseball game.

Young is the guest on Episode 62, which also serves as a preview of the winter meetings. He’s as special assistant to general manager Chris Young, and is fine in that role. There’s no interest in going full time.

Can’t blame him.
