Bruce Bochy starting to toy with Rangers lineup

ARLINGTON — Bruce Bochy has had a lot of catching up to do.

Hired two months ago Wednesday, the new Rangers manager needed to learn about most of the players who were on the roster and all of the key prospects in the minor leagues.

The work started after his first meeting with general manager Chris Young before being hired. It has continued since the Rangers announced the hiring Oct. 21.

Bochy is familiar with shortstop Corey Seager and second baseman Marcus Semien. He expects catcher Mitch Garver to be a factor, and the Rangers are going to get a full season of third baseman Josh Jung.

Though the roster is still in flux this offseason, that hasn’t stopped Bochy from wondering what his first Rangers lineup might look like.

They need a superstar “out of left field.”

A lead off power guy who can control the strike zone? Good luck with that in the wiff world we live in these days.

With the kind of season Matt Moore had, I’m surprised there hasn’t been more chatter attached to his name across the league. I would like to see him in a Rangers uniform next season.
