SURPRISE, Ariz. — Corey Seager took another step in the right direction Monday morning, taking live batting practice for the first time since having surgery Jan. 30 for a sports hernia.

Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said that Seager could be in the lineup March 25 and March 26 for the Rangers’ exhibition games against the Red Sox at Globe Life Field.

A cloud over his availability for Opening Day and the beginning of the Rangers’ defense of their first World Series title appears to have lifted.

“I don’t know yet,” Seager said.
