Friday on the Farm: 12 of the best August performances in the Rangers’ system

Wyatt Langford was promoted to Double A Frisco after a huge August at High A Hickory (Frisco RoughRiders).

The biggest news Rangers minor-league news this season came earlier this month, when the Rangers promoted top prospect Evan Carter to the majors from Triple A Round Rock.

Also making headlines were the promotions of No. 2 prospect Wyatt Langford to Double A Frisco and No. 3 prospects Sebastian Walcott to High A Hickory.

Carter had been with Round Rock only eight games, but Adolis Garcia was injured and Carter was deemed the best replacement for the two-time All-Star.

Carter was flourishing at Triple A after a solid campaign at Double A Frisco. He had a solid August with the RoughRiders before moving, batting .284 with an .862 OPS, 10 extra-base hits and 10 steals.

It was a good month for him, but something extraordinary will happen to top his September.

Were there 12 performances last month that would keep him off the following list of the 12 best Rangers minors-leaguers for August?

Nice performances all, but the best August performance was turned in by a guy named Cole Ragans. Not on our farm anymore. Also not a 5+ ERA guy anymore. In two months with KC, his ERA is 1.69 with them? What changed? Maybe a new pitching coach? Best wishes for Cole tonight against the Astros.
