Friday on the Farm: Bayron Lora, tragedy and investigation behind him, coming on for Rangers’ Dominican team

(Rangers Today/Jeff Wilson)

When Bayron Lora’s name was in the headlines last, it was because of a single-car accident near his home in the Dominican Republic in which a passenger in the truck Lora was driving was killed.

That was in mid-March, and a police investigation scuttled plans for the Texas Rangers prospect to come to the U.S. to participate in minor-league spring training. There seemed to be some question if he would be held criminally negligent.

Lora was not seriously injured in the wreck and continued to work out in the Dominican Republic. He is playing for one of the two Rangers teams in the Dominican Summer League and is free to travel to the U.S. following a police investigation into the wreck.
