Friday on the farm: Mini-camp complete, Texas Rangers draftees (some of them) ready to play ball

The deadline to sign all draftees passed Sunday, and the Texas Rangers took things down to the wire with second-round pick Aaron Zavala and two others.
Zavala’s situation was complicated by a yet-to-be-revealed “medical anomaly,” but he did participate in the final few days of a mini-camp to help get draftees on-boarded with the organization.
Zavala is still at the Rangers’ complex in Surprise, Ariz., to get caught up on what he missed. If and when he takes the field this season remains to be determined, general manager Chris Young said.
The Rangers signed 18 of their 20 draftees, and the mini-camp served its purpose. Now, it’s on to playing baseball … for some of them.
