Friday on the Farm: Rangers have potential impact outfielders closing in on majors

(Rangers Today contributor/Davidson Wang)
The last piece the Rangers could pursue before spring training and into big-league camp is a left fielder.
They apparently didn’t like the candidates who were out there earlier in the offseason, like Joey Gallo, or didn’t like certain candidates, like Michael Conforto, enough to match other clubs’ offers.
It’s also possible that the Rangers need to hold onto ownership’s money after all that has been spent the past two offseasons.
But what if — what if — the Rangers see left field as a position where they can save some money and get good value with one of the outfielders in the farm system?
It makes a whole bunch of sense.
The last part sounds like job interviews: Can you do X, Y, and Z. Of course, the interviewees will say. Doing those things is completely different, though.
