Friday on the Farm: Rangers’ third-round pick, a native Texan, learning in Arizona about the grind

Chris Cauley experienced college baseball at TCU in the 1980s and minor-league baseball over three seasons after leaving Fort Worth for the Chicago White Sox organization.
He knew the two roads his son Cam, a Texas Tech commitment and the Texas Rangers’ third-round pick in July, could take. Dad and son weighed the pros and cons, but, ultimately, Chris left it up to Cam.
The Rangers helped, offering $1 million to forgo his commitment to Tim Tadlock’s program. But Cam Cauley’s dream is to play in the major leagues some day, and the sooner the better.
