Pitching-first Rangers? That’s a new concept, but it’s not a burden to promising rotation

SURPRISE, Ariz. — Only one team in the American League and one team in the National League have failed to have a pitcher win a Cy Young Award.
It comes as no surprise that the NL team is Colorado, where altitude causes batted balls and pitchers’ ERAs to soar.
The AL team is the Rangers, and that probably doesn’t come as a surprise either. Some might guess that Nolan Ryan won one and others firmly believe 1974 runner-up Ferguson Jenkins should have won that one, but no Rangers pitcher has ever done it.
That might be why the Rangers are known as an offense-first team. It’s been that way for most of their 51 seasons..
No. 52, though, might be an exception.
Is there really a significant difference between throwing a bullpen session and throwing off a mound? Also, I thought he threw batting practice. Maybe I’m mistaken.
He did not throw live BP. Bullpen and throwing off a mound are mostly synonymous, though bullpens are generally more intense.
