Rangers land coveted pitching prospect Brock Porter in fourth round

The Rangers weren’t going have a great draft, “they” said.

The Rangers were going to miss not having second- and third-round picks, “they” said.

That’s not what “they” are saying now.

I can’t believe no comments on this! Here’s the obvious question, if he was the “best high school player” and the “best pitching prospect” in the draft, why did he fall to the 4th round?

Not the best high school player, but the best high school pitcher. I think the reason he dropped is … Scott Boras. Once Porter wasn’t selected in the top 15 and fell into teams with smaller bonus pools, teams knew Boras would demand more than they could pay Porter.
