Rangers notes: Martin Perez, besieged by extension questions at All-Star Game, wants to stay

MIAMI — Just about every single reporter to interview Martin Perez at the All-Star Game wanted to know if the Rangers were planning to offer him a contract extension, the left-hander said.

He had no answer for them.

Perez said on Thursday that he still hasn’t heard anything from the Rangers, even though general manager Chris Young said last week that the Rangers are open to keeping their All-Star starter beyond this season.

Get it done, Rangers. Love Marteeeen. Having a heckuva year and a great clubhouse guy. 2 years/25 million….reward him with a nice bump in pay!

I’m with you. It might take a third year, though.

I’d enjoy Martin long term, but think 3 years might be max with that third year being a TO.

I could see that. I just hope something happens.
