ARLINGTON — Much of the talk in spring training and early this week as Opening Day approached was centered on the new rules designed to speed up the pace of play.
Pitch clocks, fewer pickoff throws, less wasted time, more action.
But while games are going to be shorter this season, a baseball game is still long.
Games are still nine innings. The winning team still needs to record 27 outs.
A team facing an early deficit still has time to come back.
