FORT WORTH — Life on the freeway from Triple A to the major leagues is a road players don’t mind traveling, but it’s a bumpy ride.

Sam Huff talked about that Friday on the Rangers Today Baseball Podcast, four days after he was promoted from Triple A Round Rock for the third time this season. He was sent down Saturday for the third time.

There is ample good, such as being in the major leagues and all that comes with that (money, amenities, coaching). But it comes at a cost for a developing player like Huff, a catcher who didn’t catch last season because of a knee injury.

He wasn’t playing every day with the Rangers, as he was at Round Rock, because of the breakthrough season by Jonah Heim. Huff was missing out on at-bats and reps behind the plate.

The Rangers saw that and didn’t like it. Truth be told, neither did Huff.

He will be back. He is still a catcher in the Rangers’ eye, one with the upside of an All-Star.

He’s also a good dude who made his second appearance on the podcast. This one is episode 43, which is hard to believe.
