Rangers Today Baseball Podcast welcomes the red-hot Davis Wendzel
DUNCANVILLE — Davis Wendzel might be the hottest hitter in the Rangers’ farm system, along with Triple A Round Rock teammate Elier Hernandez. That’s quite a statement after Wendzel opened the season 0 for 21.
Two things are clicking, first and foremost that he’s been healthy. He also has implemented some of the swing characteristics that made him one of the best hitters in the 2019 draft and led to the Rangers taking him 41st overall from Baylor.
Along the way he picked up some patience, which he exhibited when the internet went out at the Premier Properties Studio. He had Sam Huff breathing down his neck to take a tour of the Lizard Skins bat grip factory near Salt Lake City, where Round Rock played last week.
Wendzel also talked about his impending fatherhood, with a boy due in July. As I told him, Jeff is a very nice name.
