David Murphy, Josh Hamilton and Nelson Cruz formed one of the best outfields in Rangers history in 2012, but was it the best outield (AP Photo/Patrick Semansky)?
Editor’s note: T.R. Sullivan covered the Texas Rangers over 32 years for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and MLB.Com and is sharing his “memoirs” with this newsletter. In the latest installment, TR ranks ‘em in threes by various and sundry categories through the history of the Rangers. Have fun with this one.
A DJ buddy of mine that worked at KVIL at the time managed to somehow get into the dugout to watch the Beach Boys concert. It was super cool. I can’t remember when this happened, but I’m pretty sure it was around 1984, give or take a year. Charlie Hough sat a few feet away from me smoking a heater, which surprised me. I wish I could go back and do that all over again.
