Will the Rangers eventually turn to Aroldis Chapman at closer?

Bruce Bochy wasn’t remotely interested Monday afternoon in entertaining any questions about Aroldis Chapman becoming the Rangers’ closer.

The manager and the team were still stinging not too long after a 12-11 loss to the Astros in which the Rangers erased an eight-run deficit to take a one-run lead into the ninth. Will Smith took the loss after blowing only his second save of the season.

Smith has been very good, better than many probably were expecting.

Had Bochy gone with Smith a week ago to close out an important game, no one would have thought twice about it. But the Rangers didn’t have Chapman a week ago, so there was plenty of second-guessing Monday.
