Rangers Today Baseball Podcast welcomes the great Mike Rhyner

FORT WORTH — Retirement is pretty great, legendary Ticket host Mike Rhyner says.

He has plenty of time for his band, Petty Theft, and his own podcast, Your Dark Companion, and to watch his favorite baseball team, the Texas Rangers.

The Old Grey Wolf even has time to help out a soon-to-be 1-year-old podcast.

He Zoomed in from Dallas on Thursday morning to join John Moore and me on the Rangers Today Baseball Podcast for some good ball talk. Rhyner is definitely more than a casual fan, and he has opinions about all that went down Aug. 15 (Chis Woodward fired) and Aug. 17 (Jon Daniels, too) with the Rangers.

Rhyner also goes back in time to 1994 and the first time he went into the Ballpark in Arlington, how in awe he was, and how he came to call it the Temple. He’s like Globe Life Field, too, but says it’s up to someone still in the sports-talk game to give the Rangers’ new home a catchy moniker.
