Friday on the Farm: Frisco opens with future Rangers zeroing in on majors

FRISCO — An MLB team always needs more than the 26 players it stars a season with and often strays beyond its 40-man roster to find the right piece needed at the right time.

Most will come from Triple A, where top prospects and former big-leaguers are awaiting their chance. Some will come from outside the organization via trade or the waiver wire, especially later in the season.

The Rangers are among the teams who aren’t afraid to pull a player up from Double A.
