Texas Rangers notes: Church, Foscue to start season at Triple A Round Rock

ARLINGTON — General manager Chris Young said on Friday that players who deserve to make the Rangers’ Opening Day roster will fall short.

He must have had infielder Justin Foscue and right-hander Marc Church in mind. That duo appeared on the MLB transactions wire as being optioned to Triple A Round Rock despite having strong spring performances.

I hate how Urena and Josh Smith made the roster over Church and Foscue/Crim for absurd roster reasons. This isn’t a team trying to rebuild; it’s a team trying to win, so they should put the best out there instead of downgrading for some long shots who could help as depth later on in the season.
