The Rangers moved quickly to fill one of their holes in the 2023 starting rotation, trading for veteran right-hander Jake Odorizzi on Wednesday at the general managers meetings in Las Vegas.

The Braves also sent cash considerations to the Rangers in exchanged for left-hander Kolby Allard, Atlanta’s first-round pick in 2015 who was traded to the Rangers in 2019 for reliever Chris Martin.

Odorizzi, who turns 33 in March, started 22 games this year between the Astros and the Braves and postsed a 4.40 ERA. He was pitching well for Houston to start the season before a leg injury that initially was thought to be a torn Achillies tendon. The injury cost him six weeks.
