The gang is all here, and Day 1 of Rangers camp is almost always a fun time

SURPRISE, Ariz. — The first full-squad workout of Rangers spring training is a baseball spectacle.
Players are spread everywhere on the back fields — all six of them, plus the half field, the bunting field and the cardio field. They take the field as one team, though in several different groups and among their own kind … pitchers, catchers and position players.
There are even early minor-league arrivals.
Non-baseball, non-media folks are there, too. Rangers fans are getting harder to tell from the autograph hounds, who at times move faster than the players as they jockey for position or try to catch up to someone who is signing.
It’s a crowd, a happy, excited crowd, and there is nothing to worry about during the first full-squad workout of spring training.
If it’s done correctly.
