The Sunday Read: A Christmas wish list for Rangers this offseason and in 2024

One of the endearing lessons from the old days was an editor telling the copy desk on a Friday Night Football that just happened to fall on Halloween to rewrite any stories that played off of the holiday.

For instance, “North Side turned into Polytechnic’s worst nightmare and spooked the Parrots 65-7.”

That rule, it was from then on assumed, applied to all holidays.

“Josh Hamilton waved bye two home runs in the Rangers’ Flag Day victory.”

Christmas stories were always the exception. Christmas Day was a time for a feel-good story or a Christmas wish list or a naught-nice review.

The Rangers just finished their best season in franchise history, winning the 2023 World Series. Players like Jon Gray and Marcus Semien are regulars in the community. There’s the kid, Evan Carter, who charmingly goshes and gees his way through interviews.

All nice there.

Oh, but Rangers fans have a wish list.

Clase would be the best guy to acquire. The decision to put him in the minors makes less sense now than it would have a few years ago because of the draft pick for RoY and the risk he gets an year of time anyways. Also, Wyatt >>> Leody. Who is this guy on the Royals, btw? 2007
