The Sunday Read: Five players who Rangers could make news with (or not) at trade deadline

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Trade season is the worst season for a lot of people in the game, from players to the front office to even the media.

Rumors fly, words are minced, sleep is scarce, and most players on the block feel pressure leading to the annual trade deadline. What’s left of a team’s season can be defined by what happens or doesn’t.

It falls this year on Tuesday, not the typical July 31 date (that’s today). Great, two more days of this.

    Would you?
Rangers send Taveras, Spencer Howard, Duran, Owen White, Acuna
    to Nats for,
    Soto, Carter Kieboom

I don’t think the Nationals would do that, and I think another team could beat that offer. White and Acuna are Rule 5 guys, so they are essentially taking on five 40-man players, three subtracting Soto and Kierboom. Rangers don’t need Kierboom, though they are always drawn to former first-rounders.
