The Sunday Read: Josh Jung needed an escape from baseball to get rehab back on track

(Rangers Today/Jeff Wilson)

SURPRISE, Ariz. — Baseball isn’t the only thing Josh Jung knows.

It’s just the only thing he wants to do.

But the third baseman, the Rangers’ top position player in the minors, couldn’t do it for 3 1/2 months because of surgery on his left shoulder in late February, and it was him driving insane.

Rehabbing an injury isn’t easy. Doing it two years in a row makes it harder. Doing it when third base was all his to open the season —  and others are now playing there — proved to be maddening.

So, he did what might seem like the craziest thing he could do.

He took a break from baseball.
