The Sunday Read: Nice guys finish … first? Texas Rangers lean on character to build winning culture

DJ Peters might amount to nothing more than a baseball experiment as the Texas Rangers lean on their pro scouts and the waiver wire to find players who could help in the future.

Jack Leiter is expected to amount to nothing less than a top-of-the-rotation starter who helps carry the Rangers back to the postseason and to their first World Series championship.

That duo wouldn’t seem to have much in common beyond the person who signs their paychecks, but one thing they have in common is a critical component of the Rangers’ rebuild.

It’s character.
