The media and the public found out Friday that Bruce Bochy was hired as the 20th full-time manager in Texas Rangers history, but the deal was done by Thursday.
So, why not introduce Bochy on Friday rather than waiting until Monday morning? He had a prior commitment.
An old friend, former MLB scout Lee Elder, was being roasted Thursday night in Biloxi, Miss., and Bochy wasn’t going to miss the charity event.
But he was already at work, reaching out to holdovers from the Rangers coaching staff.
