ARLINGTON — The 2022 Texas Rangers season has mercifully reached the final two weeks. After today’s series finale against Cleveland, the Rangers will have 10 games in nine days before players can jump into golf season.
The front office will begin in earnest the search for a manager to replace Chris Woodward, who was let go last month. The Rangers know who they want to interview and what qualities they would like in their new manager. Previous experience as a big-league manager is one, general manager Chris Young said, but it is not a necessity.
So, interim manager Tony Beasley remains a candidate, general manager Chris Young said, and the Rangers have yet to officially reach out to candidates as a courtesy to Beasley and the evaluation he is currently receiving.
Wins and losses won’t necessarily make or break Beasley’s bid, and that’s a good thing for him.
