The Sunday Read: Updated shopping list for Rangers after sending Isiah Kiner-Falefa to Twins

(The Associated Press/Jeff Chiu)

Another foot is about to drop.

It has to, either at some point Sunday or in the next few days.

The Texas Rangers created a hole at third base Saturday when they traded Isiah Kiner-Falefa and right-handed prospect Ronny Henriquez to the Minnesota Twins for catcher Mitch Garver.

As much as club officials tried to talk up the top internal candidates to play third base, the Rangers can do better and are attempting to do better.

They likely had handle on who they would bring in before making the Kiner-Falefa trade.

The Rangers have at least two other positions where they want to upgrade as well. Maybe it’s more.

It’s not like catcher had been on anyone’s radar.

Here’s a look at third base, left field and the starting rotation, where those areas stand and speculation on the general direction of where things might go.
