The Surprise Five: Leody Taveras might be breaking out of spring slump

GOODYEAR, Ariz. —  Spring break has started, as the crowd Saturday at Camelback Ranch would suggest. The ballpark was filled with lots of Dodgers fans, who apparently all drove individually and did not eat before coming.

Traffic outside and inside the ballpark screamed spring break, too.

Rangers fans represented their team, though there wasn’t a ton to cheer in a 7-1 loss to the Dodgers. The Rangers return Sunday to Surprise Stadium for their first game of spring break, and the expectation is that crowds will be the biggest they’ve been since the Rangers’ two World Series appearances.

Their opponent is the Cubs, who draw wherever they go.

Be patient, be respectful, be mindful that there will be a lots of little kids on the back fields, hydrate and wear sunscreen.

A trip to spring training is the best family baseball trip there is. Have fun. Say hello if you see two fools running around wearing Rangers Today gear. Ask about our spring sale.
